Martin Feather, Ph.D.

Feather is a Principal, Software Assurance Engineer for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology. Appointed to this position since 2001, Feather is responsible for identifying, developing and infusing research results that offer the prospect of improving assurance of space missions, with a particular interest in space systems software.

Feather joined JPL’s Software Assurance group in 1995. Prior to that, he was a researcher at University of Southern California’s Information Science Institute for 15 years.

Feather has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Edinburgh, U.K. and a M.A. and B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Cambridge University, U.K.

He has authored over 140 papers in areas of risk assessment, technology infusion, automatic programming, formal specification, program evolution, runtime monitoring, verification and validation, test automation, software assurance, and information visualization.
