Simple Course Listing (number, title, short description)

NOTE: Within the world of SMA, disciplines can be thought of and grouped in a variety of ways. The following are the terms used to develop and organize this catalog: Office of Safety and Mission Assurance (OSMA) Discipline or Program: These are larger disciplines and programs that often encompass other related disciplines. Additional SMA Discipline: These additional disciplines can be thought of as sub-disciplines that fall under an overarching OSMA discipline or program. SMA Technical Excellence Program (STEP) Curriculum: These are based on STEP’s curriculum's. STEP centers around a smaller set of six disciplines — Aviation Safety, Occupational Safety, Quality Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability, Software Assurance, and System Safety — but not all offerings fall into one of these areas. Listings for STEP Curriculum also include
  • Level 1: The first Level of the program, applicable to all disciplines
  • SMA Leadership: An alternate STEP curriculum
  • Core: Required for all disciplines
  • Elective: An optional offering applicable to more than one discipline
